A person with shoulder-length hair, wearing a light-colored shirt, crouches in a dimly lit space with colorful lights overhead. They are holding a flashlight and a glowing disco ball, surrounded by hands reaching toward it, with several children or people nearby. The scene has an artistic, performance-like atmosphere.

How I Can Help

Every project is different. If you're looking for something bespoke, I'd love to collaborate and create a tailored proposal that brings your ideas to life.

From Curiosity to Creation

Every project begins with a conversation, but successful projects are built on thoughtful planning, collaboration and a clear understanding of their environmental and social impact.

Whether you're developing a public artwork, community programme, funding application or immersive installation, my process combines creative direction with practical project management to ensure ideas are both ambitious and achievable.

Discovery

We begin by exploring your vision, aspirations and objectives.

Together we'll identify:

  • Your project's purpose

  • Audience and beneficiaries

  • Environmental ambitions

  • Opportunities and constraints

  • Desired outcomes

This stage creates the foundations for everything that follows.

Research & Development

Depending on the project this may include:

  • Site research

  • Community consultation

  • Environmental research

  • Material investigation

  • Creative experimentation

  • Partnership development

  • Venue analysis

  • Tour ready production

Creative Strategy & Project Planning

Ideas become structured projects through careful planning.

This includes:

  • Project roadmap

  • Delivery timeline

  • Budget development

  • Risk assessment

  • Stakeholder mapping

  • Resource planning

  • Access and inclusion considerations

  • Evaluation framework

The aim is to create a project that is realistic, resilient and funding ready.

Funding Readiness

For projects seeking investment, we'll strengthen every element before submission.

Including:

  • Project narrative

  • Public benefit

  • Budget refinement

  • Outcomes

  • Evaluation

  • Partnerships

  • Delivery confidence

The goal isn't simply to write a funding application, but to develop a stronger project.

Sustainability & Circular Thinking

Environmental responsibility is embedded throughout my practice rather than added as an afterthought.

Together we'll consider:

  • Material sourcing

  • Circular design principles

  • Waste reduction

  • Reuse and repair opportunities

  • Carbon-conscious production

  • Local supply chains

  • Long-term legacy

  • Environmental impact

Inspired by natural ecosystems, I believe the most resilient projects are those that consider their entire life cycle from concept to reuse.

Delivery & Reflection

Whether I'm acting as creative director, producer or collaborator, I support projects through delivery while maintaining space for learning, adaptation and reflection.

Every project should leave behind more than its final outcome.

It should strengthen partnerships, build confidence, create meaningful experiences and contribute positively to both people and place.

Every project considers:

  • Circular materials

  • Reuse opportunities

  • Local suppliers

  • Community partnerships

  • Accessibility

  • Knowledge sharing

  • Environmental legacy

Black and white photo of women protesting, holding a banner that reads "Women for life on Earth from Greenham Common to Meniwth Hill 1984". People are standing on a city street, some holding signs, with buildings in the background. Yellow text overlays the image, referencing a project about women's living spaces in Leeds and Dortmund in August 2023.

Femxle Spaces

A collaborative programme delivered in partnership with Leeds 2023 and twinned city Dortmund, Veir D, bringing together artists, communities and cultural organisations to explore identity, inclusion and public engagement through creative practice.

  • Due to her very dedicated and structured way of working, she was a great support for our project that we could not have realised so successfully without her. We appreciate her open-minded and warm manner. Rachel Rea has always been a joy to work with

Stella Pischke, Co-Producer, Femxle Spaces, VeirD

  • “Rachel’s work brings 4D attributes to life. Their work was instrumental in achieving the immersive and sensory experience we were aiming for. Not only this but their use of recycled materials perfectly complimented one of our key themes ‘invasive species’ by highlighting, in such a visceral way, how plastic is also an invader of the natural world

Paul Miller, Project Director/ Lead Artist

  • Rachel's dedication to co-designing with local advocacy groups ensured the space was truly inclusive and impactful. Rachel doesn't just create beautiful, sustainable arts; she builds meaningful, educational projects that bring diverse communities together. We cannot recommend her highly enough for any forward-thinking, community-driven initiative."

Mohammed (Attaur) Rahman, Executive Director, Rochdale Science Initiative.
